And over 3 decades of other amazing work!
Australian actor, voice actor, and stage director John Noble is probably best known for his role as Denethor in the The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as the last Ruling Steward of Gondor, and father of War of the Ring heroes Boromir and Faramir. Even in an impressive cast and story, Noble’s harrowing display of coldness and despair (as well as his tomato-munching) granted him a place in the list of unforgettable LotR characters. Other notable movie credentials include Pat Shepherd in The Mule, Kastner in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and much more.
He has also won several coveted prizes, including a Saturn Award and a Critics’ Choice Television Awards, in the television department. John Noble has lent his amazing acting talents to numerous TV roles, such as Dr. Walter Bishop in Fringe, Henry Parish in Sleepy Hollow, Sherlock Holmes’ father Morland Holmes in Elementary, Mallus in Legends of Tomorrow, Nicholas Tanz in Salvation,… The list of roles spans about 3 and a half decades, so check out the list for yourself!
Noble has also used his deep, intriguing voice for numerous voice acting roles. You may remember him from Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knight (2015), Brainiac in Superman: Unbound, Unicron in Transformers: Prime, The Diviner in Star Trek: Prodigy, Caliban in Cowboy Bebop on Netflix, the Dragon Spirit in the movie The Last Airbender, and so much more.
