With major roles in blockbuster movies such as Thor: Ragnarok, Judge Dredd, Star Trek AND The Lord of the Rings, plus recurring roles in iconic series such as Xena and Hercules, we simply can’t help but be excited to welcome Karl Urban to FACTS October 2017!
If this New Zealand actor were to comment on this page in character, he’d surely go: “Dammit Jim, I’m an doctor, not a superhero!” But we’d beg to differ. Karl Urban is only 45, but he’s had more fandom evoking roles than other actors of his age would ever dream of having.
Bones and Swords
To name a number of cases in the movie department: Karl Urban gave shape to Judge Dredd in the movie Dredd (2012), the comic superhero we all know and love.
The Trekkies will surely know him primarily as the character that spends a lot of time in the ‘Dammit Gym’ (ha, get it?): Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy. Karl Urban had a chance to shine in the most recent adventures of the sci-fi franchise, namely Star Trek: The Future Begins (2009), Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek: Beyond (2016).
In The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) and Return of the King (2003), the last two movies in the Peter Jackson trilogy, Karl Urban gave it his best as Éomer, riding ironclad horses and convincingly waving his sword.
Necromongers and … Cupid
Even more of Karl Urban’s peak performances: Necromonger Commander Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and its sequel Riddick (2013), John Grimm in the 2005 movie Doom, Munder in the horror movie Ghost Ship (2002) and much more. For the Flemish people: Karl Urban was also Vincent Stevens in The Loft (2014), the American version of the Belgian movie by Erik Van Looy.
As for the TV series department: Karl Urban was a recurring actor in the iconic 90’s series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, in which he played Julius Caesar and Cupid.
FACTS is incredibly proud to welcome this great actor to FACTS 2017, on the 21st and 22nd of October, in Flanders Expo, Ghent. Karl Urban will be available for photoshoot sessions, Q&A and signing sessions on both days.
