SHORT BIO

Fans of the better supernatural series will instantly recognise this New Zealand-born actor Daniel Gillies as fan-favourite character Elijah Mikaelson in The Vampire Diaries. He must have sparked something among the directors, so much so that his character was given the lead role in this series’ spin-off The Originals, which ran for a full five seasons, from 2013 to 2018.

His first big steps in the business, however, may surprise you. Did you spot him in Sam Raimi’s and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 (2004), as John Jonah Jameson III, the son of JJJ, and MJ’s boyfriend? Or in the Bollywood-style movie Bride & Prejudice (2004)? Be sure to check it out for a massive nostalgia wave. Speaking about making waves: his role as Dr. Joel Goran in the medical TV drama series Saving Hope did not go unnoticed either, as did the role of Mark Monroe, the husband of protagonist Mel in Netflix’s Virgin River.

If you are a fan of his work, then we can highly recommend watching his magnificent and utterly bone-chilling performance as villain Mandrake in the thriller Coming Home in the Dark (2021).

Daniel Gillies will be present at FACTS Spring 2023, on Saturday April 1st and Sunday April 2nd, in Flanders Expo Ghent. He will be available for photoshoots, autograph sessions, selfies, exclusive meet & greets, and big Q&A shows.
