Robert Englund was born June 6, 1947 in Glendale, California. In 1974, at the age of 27, he appeared in his first movie Buster and Billie. Since then, he appeared in no less than 70 movies. His fame can primarily be attributed to his character Freddy Krueger in the A Nightmare On Elm Street movie series and to the friendly alien lizard Willie from the “V” series,

Freddy Krueger is one those horroricons (together with Jason, Pinhead and Michael Myers) one cannot forget. He portrayed the diabolical child-killer Freddy Krueger in 7 movies, a television series, a guest appearance in the Simpsons and a movie confronting colleague Jason. This confrontation in The Freddy vs Jason made the movie one of his biggest starring roles. He received the Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors in 1987 and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master in 1988.

Englund’s biggest starring role since Freddy vs. Jason was that of Mayor Buckman in the horror film 2001 Maniacs. A sequel named 2001 Maniacs: Beverly Hellbillys, is currently filmed.

He also made a lot of appearences on famous television series. While his guest roles in Chips, Married with Children, Hart to Hart, Charlie’s Angels, MacGyver may have gone unnoticed, he has unforgettable appearences in Knight Rider (as a phantom in the fright Knight episode ), in Babylon 5 (as prophet Jeremiah) and recently in Charmed (as a demon).

Englund’s directorial début was the 1989 horror film 976-EVIL. He is currently directing his second feature titled Killer Pad, a horror-comedy about three friends who use money from an insurance claim to move out of their parents’ homes. They score a place in Hollywood Hills and refuse to believe that the house is actually a portal to hell.

Recently, he gave his voice to The Riddler in The Batman animated series and to Felix Fausts in the Justice League cartoon series.

Other significant horror flicks are The Mangler, The Wishmaster, Urban Legend and The Killer Tongue .

Englund has been married twice, but has never had any children. He currently resides in Laguna Beach, California.
