Phil Winslade is a Marvel and DC artist on titles like Daredevil/Spider-Man, Wonder Woman: Amazonia, Nevada, Goddess, Transmetropolitan ‘Filth of the City’, Howard the Duck, The Astonishing Spider-Man, Red Sonja: Break The Skin, All Star Western, Daredevil…

Influenced to start a career by Steve Pugh who he met at art college and inspired in his youth by the likes of Jack Kirby, John Romita, Sr. and John Buscema and lateron in life by Barry Windsor-Smith, Glenn Fabry, Gene Colan and Alphonse Mucha were my main influences. That’s not to say that Kirby et al were discarded… The first group were consummate story tellers, with strong dynamic grounding. Winslade learnt a sense of how to tell a story. The second group taught him about anatomy and the concept of creating different worlds, rich and full of detail.

He has a drawing style some might call classic; another would call it traditional or old-fashioned. He personally sees himself as trying to carry forward the combination of good story telling and good draughtsmanship that the talents above exemplify.
