The Eighth Doctor is parking his TARDIS right on the FACTS doorstep and is storming in with a cunning plan: saying hello to his many fans disguised as actor Paul McGann. Or so we suspect.
Although Paul McGann’s reincarnation possibly had the shortest life span of any Doctor to date in terms of screen time, that doesn’t stop the Whovians – and anyone who can appreciate the finer tv sci-fi series – from loving him to bits. He was brilliant in this role and it’s a shame that we didn’t get to see more of this amazing actor in the universe riddled with Daleks and sonic screwdrivers. As much as we would have liked to see him save the galaxy on screen, we were also very entertained by his voice acting work Doctor Who audio dramas.
It won’t be hard to take the very sympathetic and charming Paul McGann into your heart. Or both hearts, if you’re a fellow Time Lord. But if you want to see for yourself, then you should come to FACTS on the 22nd and 23rd of October to meet Mr. McGann in person!
The many faces of Paul McGann
1. The Eighth Doctor Who
This version of the Time Lord in the movie Doctor Who (1996) never would have been as amicable if it weren’t for Paul McGann. You can see that he enjoyed portraying the babbling scatterbrain so much that he almost becomes a Time Lord himself.
And who could forget the episode The Night of the Doctor (2013), the prequel to the amazing 50th anniversary episode? McGann also voice acted the Eighth Doctor in Doctor Who: Shada, an animated version of the series.
2. Golic in Alien 3 (1992)
In Alien 3, Paul McGann portrayed the deranged inmate Walter Golic, which was quite the transformation.
3. Percy Toplis in The Monocled Mutineer (1987)
4. One of the two title figures in the rather bizarre comedy Withnail and I (1987)
5. David Talbot in The Queen of the Damned (2002)
And many, many more movies and series. Click here for all of Paul McGann’s work.
